2025 DR MARGARET DRAKE SCHOLARSHIP WINNER: Colson Caridi

Congratulations to Colson Caridi

CollegeThe Ohio State University
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Expected Graduation Date: May 2026

What inspired you to study Engineering?

“I was inspired to study engineering because of my strengths in math and science, and I enjoy problem-solving. Engineering gives me the chance to take those skills and apply them to real-world challenges.”

What obstacles have you faced, and how did you overcome them?

“One obstacle I’ve faced is balancing the heavy workload of engineering classes with internships and outside projects. I’ve learned to manage my time better, stay organized, and lean on both classmates and mentors when things get overwhelming.”

If you could look ahead in 10 years, where do you see yourself?

“In 10 years, I see myself as a professional engineer with leadership responsibilities, ideally combining my technical background with business knowledge to help lead projects and teams.”

What’s one lesson you’ve learned in school that you’ll carry with you?

One lesson I’ve learned is to never be afraid to ask questions. Communication is key, and the more that everyone knows where people are starting from, the better they can work together moving forward.

What does receiving this scholarship represent to you beyond the financial support?

Beyond financial support, this scholarship represents recognition of the hard work I’ve put into my studies and encouragement to keep pushing toward my career goals. It also reminds me to give back in the future and support students like I’ve been supported.
