ASHRAE Columbus December Event

Topic: Energy Efficiency in Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration Systems

Place: Grange Audubon Center, 505 W Whittier St, Columbus

Date: Monday, December 15, 2014

Time: Registration 11:30am, Program 11:45am

Cost: $20 Local ASHRAE Members, $25 Non-Local ASHRAE Members

Speaker: Abdul Qayyum "Q" Mohammed, Engineer with Go Sustainable Energy

Q is an engineer with Go Sustainable Energy (Go). He believes that energy efficiency is key to a sustainable future, globally. AtGo, Q works with a wide variety of clients including commercial buildings, manufacturing facilities and utilities to help identify, quantify and verify energy savings opportunities. Q regularly presents on energy efficiency applications for ammonia refrigeration, compressed air, and chilled water systems to industrial groups such as the Ohio Manufacturers Association.

Prior to Go, Q completed his Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton (UD) with a focus in Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. Q completed 20 industrial energy assessments with UD's Industrial Assessment Center (IAC). His research goal was to understand energy use of ammonia refrigeration systems and develop a methodology for simulating annual energy use of these systems. Q has two publications related to ammonia refrigeration systems, one in ASHRAE and one in ACEEE. Q's Ammonia Refrigeration simulation tool is used at UD-IAC to quantify energy savings in ammonia refrigeration systems.
