February 2014 ASHRAE Luncheon

Topic: Measuring Air Velocity - Differences in Methods and Technologies
Place: Grange Audubon Center, 505 W Whittier St, Columbus
Date: Monday, February17, 2014
Time: Registration 11:30am, Program 11:45am
Cost: $20 Local ASHRAE Members, $25 Non-Local ASHRAE Members
Topic:
Indirect methods of estimating air velocity and volume are insufficient to satisfy current standards and most ventilation codes.  Direct methods have evolved over the past 30 years to provide designers and building operations with choices and different levels of field performance.  Velocity pressure-based methods and devices are the most readily understood but can provide the greatest measurement uncertainty if their limitations are not observed.  Vortex Shedding and Thermal Dispersion offer advantages in absolute performance and reliability.  Comparing and contrasting these technologies will provide you with a greater understanding of your options.

Speaker:
Leonard A. Damiano
